Living in Poulsbo

Poulsbo, WA

From the bay, the skyline is dominated by a white-steepled church and below it flows the charm of little Norway.

Founded on what was once called Dog Fish Bay in the 1880s what is now called Poulsbo became home to migrant Scandinavians who were drawn here for the rich resources, scenery and weather much like their native country of Norway.

Over the years Dog Fish Bay became Liberty Bay and the small working village morphed into one of the most scenic and friendly cities in Kitsap County.

Just take a walk down Front Street and you will meet the people of Poulsbo as you visit the locally owned and operated shops and eateries. You can begin your day at the world-famous Sluys Bakery for coffee and a sweet cake, spend your day visiting shops, strolling in the park and boardwalk, checking out the Marine Science Center and finishing up your day at Buratta Bistro…..all within a few blocks of each other along the waterfront.
